(she/her)

Laken Sylvander is a mission-driven fundraiser & non-profit communications manager with a career spanning the cultural, environmental and educational sectors. With trubel&co, she contributes to fundraising strategy from a wealth of experience in development in racial justice & food apartheid work with EarthDance Organic Farm School in Ferguson, Missouri. She studied French and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies for her B.A. at Washington University in Saint Louis, followed by pursuing an M.A. at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam in Critical Studies in Arts & Culture as a Fulbright Scholar. Her love of the world of arts & culture led her to an exciting career in fundraising and donor relations in opera, ballet, and arts therapy, all of which paved the way to EarthDance where she rekindled her work as a communications expert in the scope of justice work in her hometown of St. Louis. Outside of fundraising for justice-driven organizations, she is a multi-disciplinary artist, writer and researcher who's work spans the environmental and digital humanities. Her independent research interests lie in material & textile futures under the climate crisis. In her less-than-abundant free time, Laken is a musician, working as a singer, producer, songwriter & composer, partnering with choreographers, filmmakers & more.
